The The League of Conservative Nations applied to join the Partnership for Sovereignty (PfS) on 27 January 2021. The following is the application.

Background

The Republic of The League of Conservative Nations is committed to the principles of inter-regional cooperation, sovereignty, positivity, and respect. With a history of supporting defending causes, either in action or diplomatic support, dating as far back as FORGE, we stand firmly with the right of self-determination of each region. It is our opinion that the interests of the LCN and this organization clearly align.

Despite our region’s name, we are a region that is diverse in many ways and is accepting towards people of many ideologies and walks of life. From our residency to our government, we hold many members of different perspectives and origins.

We hope that this esteemed organization will allow us to participate as a member region of the Partnership for Sovereignty Agreement. It is the opinion of many in our government that if we were inducted into this organization, it would be the most significant foreign policy decision ever made by our region, or at least since 2017.

Foreign Affairs and the World Assembly

It is the hope of our region to advance our own standing and causes on the inter-regional stage and to set forth our diplomatic and potential military resources to causes that our region supports.

We have further developed our Department of Foreign Affairs over recent times, including the incorporation of the World Assembly Delegate position to the Office of the Director of Foreign Affairs and an establishment of a formal diplomatic staff. Our current goals include furthered diplomatic outreach and an increase in World Assembly membership in the region.

Additionally, while our diplomatic resources and staff outweigh our military infrastructure at this period in our history, we are open and hopeful to increase our ability in that field as well. We have high hopes for the future of our region and delegation if we are accepted into the Partnership for Sovereignty Agreement.

For reference, a summary of those who represent the LCN in a foreign capacity is listed in this official dispatch.

Out-of-Character Concerns

Over the summer of 2020, several concerns came to light about moderation on the LCN Discord Server. Concerns were brought up from a variety of people and sources regarding leniency and tolerance of certain behaviors, and the use of some slurs which had not been prohibited on the server in their entirety. During the height of this controversy, we, in general, acted defensively and spoke in defense of lenient and procedural moderation policies that are, in our current opinion, generally unbecoming and irresponsible.

Since the drama and tension died down, we have taken several steps to reorganize and better conduct our moderation policies. This includes but is not limited to the banning of slurs and questionable terms that we feel have no place or need to be present in an online community on NationStates, and the reorganization of our moderation team into a fully functional out-of-character administrative and moderating staff.

We hope to continue maintaining and improving our out-of-character moderation team in the future and hope that previous issues we have worked to rectify will not prevent us from contributing positively to the inter-regional community. We are open to questions relating to these issues and will answer them appropriately. As stated, we have worked to better support and maintain a safe and respectable community and will continue to progress on that.
