Thamrin Edelweiss (born January 3, 1980), also known as Tham or Weiss, is a Karimunese politician who is the 11th and current president of Karimun. Elected in the July 2019 general election as the 4th president not to come from an elite political or military background, he was the owner of Edelweiss Electronic before he passed it to his cousin, Angelina Edelweiss in 2019 after he was elected as the president, and the chairman of Karimun Association of Youth Entrepreneurs from 2018 to 2019 when he also resigned from its position after he was elected, only a year in office.

He was raised in Johenavi in a lower-middle-class family. His father, Martin Edelweiss was a furniture worker while her mother, Giselle Roses, worked as a forest guard for Komodo National Park. He attended private school with a scholarship in Giovanni and attended the Surabaya Institue of Technology in Surabaya. When he was 23, he dropped out from the university before the final test began but earned a master, he also met Antoni Ganesha, who now works as the lead scientist in the Karimunese Jayakarta Institute of Geology and Ariana Dirgantara, who was working in the Surabaya Botanical Garden, they both married three years after.

In 2009, he created the Edelweiss Technology as a company to help manufacture several electronics, provide services and market to sell products, the business was running smoothly until in July 2011 when several businesses in Karimun was struggling under the new taxation law, he joined in a protest marching from Karimun Stock Exchange to Bank Karimun, the Karimunese central bank after that protest, he along with a dozen of young businessmen and women who participated in the protest joined the Karimun Association of Young Entrepreneurs (APPK) in early 2012 where he climbed the organization ladder and finally was appointed as chairman position in March 2015.

During the 2017 Giovanni Gubernatorial Election, he said that he didn't want APPK to be involved in the election but he couldn't stop APPK members to exercise their constitutional right to participate in the election as an individual. He was applauded and criticized during his term as the APPK chairman. he was applauded for being new changes to the organization and managed to create a better environment that accomodate wider range of aspirations from the business sector, he a;

When the 2019 Presidential registration began, several surveys included his name in their possible presidential candidate, he was in the top five, he denied the possibility and said "a survey is just a survey, I ain't gonna run for the presidency. I'm not gonna use my position in KYAB to endorse a candidate or run for the presidency." until a friend of him who was in Labour Congress Party, Mitch Latrell invited him to join the party and ran for the presidency, he denied and said, "I'll never run for the presidency." which Mitch replied, "Will you run for change then?" Thamrin looked at him and reluctantly accepted the proposal to join the election because of the people not for the Labour Congress Party.

Fast-forward in three months before the election, the was losing in the first debate, and the second one as well, his survey was dropping and even touched 6.7 % popularity in several news agencies, he announced an intention to back out from the ballot which made him the center of attention, people began supporting him and reading his campaign, some started flocking his campaign branches in several provinces to throw their support behind him, his popularity jumped to 21.1 % in a week but his future wasn't bright, he had an argument with his party colleagues resulting him to cut his relation with Labour Congress and announcing to run independently, fast-forward to the election day, he won with 57 % of the votes against Social Change party.
