Terranilian (standard: Teraníles) is one of the two Terranilian languages belonging to the Terranilian-Azumanakan branch of the Shazaqanic languages. It is the official language of Terranihil. It uses the Iberic script. The three main dialects of Terranilian are Western, Central, and Eastern. Terranilians living in northern Greater Sacramento have also developed an accent.

History

Origin and evolution

Proto-Terranilian diverged from Proto-Terranilian-Azumanakan language in around 1000 BCE, which had diverged from Proto-Shazaqanic around 2000 BCE. Proto-Terranilian formed the basis for all of the languages in the Terranilian language family. Old Terranilian and Old Póniepan diverged from Proto-Terranilian around 200 BCE. The period of the language classified as Middle Terranilian is from 600 to 1500 CE. From 1500 onward was the Terranilian language's modern phase.

Terranilian's vocabulary has been influenced by neighboring languages, mainly Shazaqanic and Azumanakan, but also Anglic.
