History
Overview
After a couple of years after the communist revolution in 1954, Vernharð Birtisson, who was the owner of the S.K. Reykjanes club, came back to the stage from hiding after the events in 1949. Due to his history with the communist party, he was allowed to to create the Reykani Association and the national team. Football was already established in Reykanes for decades by 1954, so the popularity of football was already there. The first national team mostly included players from S.K. Reykjanes but there were others from other clubs. The first international match was against Tirol on home turf in 1954, winning it 1-0. This was turned in to a huge propaganda by the communist government, considering one of the best team in the LFE was beaten by not even a year old team. The federation entered the Terraconservan Cup at the 1956 Terraconservan Cup for the first time, coached by Steinbjörn Eddason. The first LFE competition was the 1959 Ecros Championship.

Kits and crest
Commonly the first kits were mix of green and white. Commonly white was preferred since official kit hasn't been decided till the 60s. For the 1956 Terraconservan Cup, Reykanes wore a red kit, ordered by the Communist government of Reykanes. It was the first time, Reykanes wore a kit different than the green and white, they normally wear for a competition. Sometimes for a anniversary, the team will wear a normal kit with golden yellow mixed in. From the 1960s, more colors from the national flag were included, like the brown and later Light blue also appeared since it became a unofficial color of Reykanes.

Home stadium
Hafnirurvöllur is the main stadium of the team and the largest in the country. Ever since the creation, the team only played in this stadium till 2023. From a stand to a full on stadium, it slowly grew. The stadium actually began construction 1 year before the national team was created. It can be tied in to the communist government that tried to create a perfect image of Reykanes by creating a full on stadium for the new team. It would be expanded in 1962 but remained the same till it was fully renovated in 2016.
