The capital of Rakeo is Olino. It has a two neighboring nations, one to its north in the form of Creeperopolis, with a technologically backwards nation in the west, known as Sequoyah. As of 2020, an estimated 30 million people live in the island nation.

History
Pre-Unification
Western Rakeo was originally settled by sea-faring tribes from the Southern Landmass. Over time, the first settlements transitioned from fishing as a main source of food towards low-temperature agriculture, allowing for survival in the inhospitable dark woods. These coastal villages would later become Rakeo’s first city-states.
First Republic
The first republic was a loose organization formed out of voluntary pacts between coastal city-states. These agreements lasted until 1704 and were superseded when the Republican Congregational Congress formed.
Theocratic Republic
Under Rakeian Catholicism, the foremost religion in Eastern Rakeo, the RCC was originally formed as a voting bloc for the first republic’s legislature, but soon had all city-states as part of its agreement. A vote was held to abolish the previous constitution, and the Theocratic Republic of Rakeo was born.
Almost immediately, there were challenges to the legitimacy of the new government. Inland farmers, already incensed from being disenfranchised under the coastal government, began to rebel. While the sporadic violence was tolerated at first, the TRR eventually established a peacekeeping force to oversee the inland provinces.
Military Coup
The forces, established under the TRR to fight unruly farmers, soon co-opted other function of society, acting as personal guards for the Archbishops, and as a unified police force. However, pagan influences within the military, as well as discontentment with church appointed officers, lead to the day of blood, in which rouge elements of the military seized church property, burnt chapels, and publicly executed spiritual leaders in Western Rakeo.
In response to the news, Eastern Rakeo began purging military officials and formed local religious garrisons in preparation for defense against the imminent invasion.
These militias engaged in fifteen full scale battles, mostly centered around Southern Rakeo. During the summer, the front lines remained stable, but beginning in fall, the frigid temperatures of the southern ice sheet caused mass causalities and a complete disintegration of command. Later examination determined that cannibalism had become widespread. Tunnels beneath the snow provided shelter to militant and loyalist personnel alike.
With the majority of its forces incapacitated in the south, TRR began losing ground on the northern front after the battle of Paragon
Quarry.
On January 15th, the militants fled from the city of Paragon by sea, and the remaining inhabitants of the city surrendered. By January 20th, TRR surrendered authority of Eastern Rakeo to the military.
Fighting continued underground on the southern ice sheet until June 8th, at which point TRR loyalists attempted to withdraw eastward, but were met by militant forces.
Stratocratic Republic
After June 15th of 1955, which marked the official surrender of the TRR, the current government of all of Rakeo became the Stratocratic Rakeian Republic. The new government maintains a stable military state. A long period began where the island of Rakeo was almost completely isolated from the rest of the world.
2010 Blackout
2016 'Malfermiteco' Initiative
In 2016, the government of Rakeo began a program known as the Malfermiteco, or 'openness' initiative. Following the announcement of this new program, a state-sponsored recreational visit to Karimun occurred.
Government
Structure
The highest authority in Rakeo following the Rakeoian Civil War has been the Directory of War, lead by General Secretary Richard Cornell. Situated beneath the Directory of War are the Directory of Interal Affairs (DIA), the Directory of Industrial Matters (DIM), and the Directory of Scientific Pursuits (DSP). Authority over offices such as the directories of Education, Diplomacy, and Industrial Science is delegated these central directories and their Directors.
Known subdirectories
Directory of Tourism
Formed in 2020, the Directory of Tourism serves the tourist market to the nation. The current number of documented tourists to Rakeo is 0, making the Directory's purpose rather unclear.
Directory of Internal Affairs
In charge of security in the nation. Known to be heavily deployed in the east to quell unrest after the civil war.
Directory of Industrial Matters
Self described as being charged with the production of militarily necessary commodities. The Directory of Diplomacy is operated by DIM.
Political Culture
The governmental structure of Rakeo lends itself to a complex, multilayered, and often troubled bureaucracy. Understandably, this makes dealing with Rakeo's internal administrative and bureaucratic obstacles difficult at times, sometimes interfering with diplomatic affairs. This is exacerbated by Rakeo's ambiguous stance on foreign nationals; there is little done to clarify government policy to outside bodies. The barrier between government and Rakeo is difficult to cross, acting as a strong deterrent to any possible tourism.
Foreign relations
Modern relations
Structure
Rakeoian diplomacy is undeveloped from years of isolationism. The modern Rakeoian directory of diplomacy is a paper department operated by the directory of industrial affairs, which other directories feed requests to.
TEU Entrance
A diplomatic trip to Terranihil, which resulted in the addition of Rakeo to the TEU. There are allegations that the nation of Rakeo is providing assistance to the Terranihilian government's malgan ethnic cleansing efforts.
Military
The naval forces of Rakeo are composed of a number of converted merchant vessels that run a variety of drill exercises that have been occaisnally observed
Army
The size of the Rakeoian army is unknown, but within the boarders of the country, a state of perpetual marshal law is maintained, with soldiers performing a number of services such as engineering and surveying, policing, and sanitation.
Human Rights
Lack of political freedoms
Rakeo is a one party state, and all news agencies were nationalized immediately following the conclusion of the civil war. In addition, outside journalism is heavily restricted as per 2020 legislation. Prior to 2020, no journalists were documented entering Rakeo under the Stratocratic government.
Discrimination on religious grounds
Many of those who fled the country during the civil war later described mistreatment of militant forces against clergy and Catholics. These allegations could not be substantiated, in part due to a ban on incoming travel put into place shortly after the conclusion of the war.
Climate
Rakeo is located near the poles of Terraconserva, and has extreme winter weather condition in the south, and severe winters in its north.
