The Paleocacherian Secret Service is the national intelligence agency of Paleocacher. Divided into Foreign Intelligence and Domestic Counter-intelligence divisions it operates from a number of domestic and international field offices in strategic locations across Terraconserva. The agency's existence is a closely guarded secret, they are answerable only to a Deputy Secretary of Public Security, the Secretary, and the President of Paleocacher. In budget items the agency exists as a bureaucratic sub department of the Civil Services branch of government. The agency has broad powers to ensure the stability and security of the Paleocacherian state and have broad powers to detain and strenuously interrogate Paleocacherian citizens and foreign nationals residing in Paleocacher who they believe are acting against the government.

The Counterintelligence Division is tasked with rooting out foreign agents and Paleocacherians acting on behalf of foreign governments or in opposition to the Paleocacherian government. Special agents can unilaterally detain persons that they believe to be a threat for up to 5 days with the approval of a section leader. With the approval of an overseeing official, suspect persons can be detained for up to twelve months without criminal charges and be subject to interrogation. Detainees are considered guests of the state and regular rules of criminal proceedings such as the right to legal counsel and a speedy trial do not apply to them.
