Operation 1 Samuel 8:18 was a covert military operation carried out by the National Intelligence Directorate (DINA), Creeperian Army (EC), and National Security Service (SNS). The operation, which occurred in the early morning of 29 January 2023 in Kholodnograd, Ajakanistan, targeted members of the far-left Anti-Romerist Revolutionary Front (FRAR), a group of Creeperian communist exiles.

Operatives attacked the headquarters of FRAR at 3 a.m. with the goal of capturing and killing its members. They forced their way into the headquarters, killing many in the process. After forcing their way into the second and third floors, FRAR members fled into the adjacent apartment complex. After killing Farabundo Gaitán Molina, the leader of FRAR, the operatives set fire to FRAR's headquarters (which eventually burned down the next door apartment complex and trade union headquarters) and withdrew from Kholodnograd.

In total, 31 FRAR members were killed and 18 more were captured and sentenced to death while only 9 operatives were injured. Additionally, 14 civilians were killed and 31 more were injured, all of whom were residents of the apartment complex impacted by the operation.

Background

In late-1949, remnants of the far-left National Council for Peace and Order (National Council) formed the Restored Creeperian Social Communist Party (RPCSC), later renamed to the Revolutionary League of Creeperian Miguelists (LIREMIC), to oppose the far-right government of the Catholic Imperial Restoration Council (Imperial Council). LIREMIC was entirely exiled from Creeperopolis in 1957 following the defeat of the Partisan Resistance by the Creeperian Armed Forces (FAC). Its members were then exiled to Ajakanistan where the communist government supported its cause against the Creeperian government, upon when it changed its name to the Revolutionary Miguelist Front for Anti-Romerist Action and National Restoration (FRE–MAARN).

During the Second Ajaki Civil War (1966–1978), FRE–MAARN's headquarters in Kholodnograd was captured by nationalist Ajaki soldiers supported by the Creeperian Air Force (FAAC). FRE–MAARN members who remained in the city were deported back to Creeperopolis or killed by Creeperian forces. The city was recaptured by communist forces in 1976 and the group, since renamed to the Anti-Romerist Front (FAR), restored its Kholodnograd headquarters which was destroyed by Creeperian forces. The group was renamed to the Anti-Romerist Revolutionary Front (FRAR) in 2004 following the 2003 Creeperian coup d'état. Farabundo Gaitán Molina became its leader in March 1993.

Prelude

On 24 November 2022, Vladimir Kareiv, the supreme leader of Ajakanistan, was arrested in Paleocacher during a meeting of the Ostlandet Union.[1] On 30 November 2022, the OU Task Force for Ajakanistan (OUTFA), composed of Baltanla, Gjorka, New Gandor, and Paleocacher, invaded Ajakanistan following the Castlederg missile strike.[2] The invasion was also supported by Creeperopolis, Pavulturilor, Reykanes, and rebels in Cherzia.

The invasion of Ajakanistan destabilized the country and gave Creeperopolis an opportunity to militarily intervene to capture or kill Creeperian communist exiles who sough refuge in the country. Political analysts generally believe that the National Intelligence Directorate (DINA), the secret police of Creeperopolis, has had some sort of operation against FRAR planned for many decades prior to the OU military intervention, and that once the intervention began, the DINA likely revisited and revised the anti-FRAR operation. The operation was likely planned by DINA Detachments A1a (Miguelism) and A3 (revolutionaries and opposition). Under Creeperian law, operation against FRAR would legally be considered to be a part of Operation Genesis 19:24–25, a government and military campaign to suppress various Creeperian leftist ideologies.

The operation was planned and mostly carried out by the National Intelligence Directorate. In addition to DINA agents, soldiers from the Creeperian Army's (EC) Black Division, the country's division of elite soldiers, were also involved in the operation. As Creeperopolis and Pavulturilor are close allies via the Cooperation and Development Coalition (CODECO), Pavulturilori operatives were allowed to participate in the operation.

The operation was named Operation 1 Samuel 8:18 (Creeperian – Creeperian: Ոպերածիօն 1 Սամփել 8:18; Creeperian – Iberic: Operación 1 Samuel 8:18; Pavulturilori: Operațiunea 1 Samuel 8:18; Hebrew: מבצע שמואל א' פרק ח' פסוק י'ח; transliteration: Meevzta Šmuel Alef Perek Khet Pasuk Yud Khet) after a passage from the Creeperian Catholic Bible. The passage reads: "On that day you will cry out because of the king whom you have chosen, but the Lord will not answer you on that day", with "king" in this context referring to how members of FRAR follow the ideology of Emperor Miguel VII who led the National Council during the Creeperian Civil War.

Operation

The operation began at 3:00 a.m. AMT+9 when operatives left their base at Kisekin to Kholodnograd. They arrived at FRAR's headquarters at 3:19 a.m. and forced entry into the building at 3:23 a.m. with a Dragón anti-tank missile. Operatives opened fire on FRAR members who were only armed with Vladimir-103 bolt-action rifles and Petrov cocktails. After clearing the first floor, the operatives moved to the second floor but were unable to continue as FRAR members set the staircase on fire.

Then, operatives who had entered an abandoned trade union's headquarters forced their way through to FRAR's headquarters on the second and third floors where they opened fire and threw grenades. The sudden entry caused mass panic within the building. FRAR members who attempted to flee through the building's fire escape ladder were shot and killed by operatives outside of the building, while the remaining members forced their way through the opposite wall and into an apartment complex which was still occupied at the time of the operation.

Operatives were ordered into the complex to find FRAR members who were hiding in the apartments, and operatives outside the building were ordered to shoot anyone who fled from the apartments. Towards the end of the operation, DINA agents found and killed Gaitán Molina. The operatives withdrew from Kholodnograd at 3:41 a.m. along with 18 captives and the body of Gaitán Molina. Before they withdrew, the operatives set fire to FRAR's headquarters to destroy it entirely.

Aftermath

Casualties and losses

During the operation 31 members of FRAR were killed and a further 18 were captured. Of the 18, 16 were ethnic Creeperans and 2 were Ajaks. All were convicted of apostasy, blasphemy, heresy, practicing communism, practicing atheism, waging war on the Empire, waging war on God, spreading misinformation, making terroristic threats, affiliation with a terrorist organization, treason, sedition, and conspiracy. They were each sentenced to 4 death sentences, 300 life sentences, and 4,565 years imprisonment and were imprisoned at the Tuxtla Martínez–Panachor Maximum Correctional Facility (TMP).[3]

According to the city's government, 14 civilians were killed and 31 more were injured during the operation, all of whom were residents of the apartment complex. The local fire department responded to the fire which was set to FRAR's headquarters, but they were unable to contain or stop the fire. The fire resulted in the entire building containing FRAR's headquarters, the trade union headquarters, and the apartment complex burned down.

The operatives reported 9 injuries, 8 Creeperans and 1 Pavulturilori.

Effect on FRAR leadership

Gaitán Molina was succeeded by Rafael Sánchez Molina as the leader of FRAR. As its headquarters was destroyed and the city was later captured by OUTFA forces, FRAR became an underground organization.

Reactions to the operation

  • Ajakanistan
    • Communists: After receiving news of the operation, Kareiv condemned the operatives as "fascist scum" who "kill[ed] peaceful partisans [and] innocent men, families, children, and common workers". He called upon Ajaks to enlist and support the communist government.[4]
    • Free Council: The day after the operation, Aleksi Norvay, the leader of the Christian Democratic Party (KDP), stated that the operation was "justified to bring down the FRAR" and offered his prayers to those who were killed during the raid who weren't members of FRAR. He promised to compensate the families of the victims. Meanwhile, other members of the Free Council condemned the operation for "unnecessarily killing Ajaki citizens".[4]
