The Ministry of Defense of Creeperopolis (CreeperianCreeperian: Մինիստերիո դե Դեֆենսա դե Ծրեեպերօպոլիս; Creeperian – Iberic: Ministerio de Defensa de Creeperópolis) is a Creeperian government agency which is responsible for the administration of military affairs of Creeperopolis. It is in command of the Creeperian Armed Forces and it is headquartered in San Salvador, San Salvador. The ministry currently employs 100,000 people.

The ministry was established on 15 June 1833 by Emperor Adolfo III following the Revolution of 1833. It superseded the Institution of War and the first Minister of Defense was Supreme Caudillo Miguel Cabañeras Gutiérrez. Throughout the existence of the Ministry of Defense, it has been dominated by the Cabañeras Family, a historic and prominent military family which has served in the Creeperian Armed Forces since the Creeperian Crusade. It has retained the position throughout the Adolfisto, Second Parliamentary Era, Creeperian Civil War, post-civil war era, Alfonsisto, and to the present day.

Abbreviated MINDEF, the Ministry of Defense is considered the most important administrative ministry of Creeperopolis, ahead of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. As such, in listings of the Ministries of Creeperopolis, the Ministry of Defense is always listed first, before the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which is considered to be the second most important ministry.

The ministry is considered to be the most controversial ministry due to its immense influence over domestic Creeperian politics and due to its consistent covering up of evidence of human rights violations. It has been often labeled as the most corrupt government body in Creeperopolis. Despite its negative reputation, it is considered to effectively manage the military situation of Creeperopolis, which has been in some sort of constant warfare since 1921.

Responsibilities

Constitutional mandates

The Ministry of Defense is de facto defined in the Constitution of Creeperopolis. The ministry itself is not legally defined, but the position of Minister of Defense, the ministry's head administrator, is:

The duties of each minister shall be decided on by the Emperor of Creeperopolis and the Creeperans."

— Article XXXI of the Constitution of Creeperopolis

The Ministry/Minister of Internal Affairs is mandated one responsibility by the Constitution of Creeperopolis:

"The Creeperian National Military Tribunal shall serve as the formal Judicial body of the Empire and shall be composed of nine Justices. The Prince of Extremadura shall serve as the President of the National Military Tribunal and the Minister of Defense shall serve as the President Pro-Tempore of the National Military Tribunal."

— Article XXVI of the Constitution of Creeperopolis
