Maksim Mytnik (b. 2007) is an Icarisian politician and former foreign service worker. He served as the Deputy Minister for International Relations from 2037 to 2040 and State Delegate from Juniper; being elected in 2040, 2046, 2052, 2058, and 2076. He served in the Tommy Papillion presidential administration as the Director of the Regulation Administration of Monetary Policy from 2070 to 2073. He played a key role in securing a conviction for Sasha Petrov, politician and organized crime boss, during the Papillion Corruption Scandal and subsequent investigation. He was held and charged with fraud and tax evasion before reaching a settlement with the Ministry of Judicial Oversight. He was a member of the Traditionalist Party before switching to the Worker's Solidarity Party in 2040.

Early life and career

Upon turning 18 in 2025, Mytnik enlisted in the Icarisian Ground Force for which he served four years. The Ground Force paid his college expenses and when he graduated he began working for the Ministry of International Relations. His title was "foreign area specialist" where is it highly suspected he was involved in clandestine operations. Mytnik's records and personal accounts prove he was in various countries during significant events which suggest the Icarisian government's involvement. In 2037, he was awarded the Distinction of Service Medal, a medal typically given to military officers, those who have committed acts of bravery, and put themselves in harms way for the country. He was then promoted to Deputy Minister of International Relations under Minister Ardian Sallaku.

Director of the RAMP (2070-2073)

Mytnik was appointed Director of the RAMP in 2070 when Marco Herrera resigned to run for State Minister. After his time in the administration and the ongoing investigations, Mytnik faced fraud and tax evasion charges. He subsequently provided necessary testimony against Marco Herrera and Sasha Petrov for their convictions. Mytnik reportedly refused witness protection, and ran to regain his seat on the Icarisian Council of Delegates in 2076.

Papillion Corruption Scandal

Mytnik provided key testimony against those involved in the scandal. The administration was involved in an organized crime corruption scandal that was laundering money, padding executive budgets with illegal funds, giving political favors to corporate interests, and obstructing justice to suppress investigations. The scandal ended in the indictments of Minister of International Relations Sasha Petrov, President Tommy Papillion, former RAMP Director Marco Herrera, Minister of Defense Mikhail Travnikov and Minister of Judicial Oversight Dominic Yarema. Papillion, Herrera and Minister of Health and Medical Services, Kyle Greensworth, were all assassinated, Yarema and Vice President Will McKenzie committed suicide. Travnikov is currently a wanted fugitive with a warrant out for his arrest. The ramifications of the incident have led to major overhaul of government oversight and newly launched investigations into government corruption, specifically in regards to campaign finance and government budget/expenditure setting.

Mytnik refused witness protection and ran for the Council of Delegates after the incident.
