Known for his stubbornness and ability to articulate a defense, Minister of Judicial Oversight Edgar Kononovs and President Esra Eisenhardt chose to fill the SG vacancy with Liebermann after a period of instability in the role. He served for six years until he was promoted to be Counselor to the President.
President Avi Navon was heavily in favor of bolstering the labor union compellance laws and decided to bring Joel Liebermann closer by appointing him as Counselor to the President. Liebermann spent four years in the role before Navon left office.
Chief of Staff to Speaker Araújo (2045-2052)
Liebermann's role as Counselor to the President ended with the election of Elise Shamir. Looking for a place to continue serving, he looked to Speaker of the Council of Delegates Hugo Araújo, who, while not a member of the Worker's Solidarity Party himself, held many beliefs sympathetic to the party's cause while leveraging his membership within a major party. Liebermann became Chief of Staff to Speaker Araújo, guiding the staff team to align itself with a worker and union-friendly agenda within the Speaker's office. Liebermann was a brilliant policy strategist for Araújo and has been given credit to much of the success of his Speakership.
2052 Paletaph 2nd District election
Araújo lost the 2052 Speaker election and went to run for his old seat on the Council of Delegates. Liebermann took the opportunity to attempt to get elected on a wave of pro-worker candidates, on the coattails of Araújo in Laporinza. He ran for Paletaph's 2nd District against highly popular incumbent, Karson Blanchard. Blanchard ultimately won reelection and the Worker's Solidarity Party as a whole dropped from 7 to 4 seats total in the National Parliament.
