Hall District is a local government Commission District in Provinzia Inn, Tirol. It is named after its largest settlement, Hall and has its administrative headquarters in the city's old town, adjacent to the historic city hall.

The district is varied, with the administrative centre sitting in the Inn floodplain, and stretching southward into the foothills and lower ranges of the Dolomita. The city of Hall is the largest in the area. Historically, the south-west of the district has been served more by Àlie as its central market town than Hall, and since the construction of the Autostrèda A2 in 1970 Balsan has functioned as the economic nucleus of much of the south of the district.

History

Hall District Commission was formed under the Reformation of Local Government Act 1964, as the Talfëra & Fascia Valleys District Commission, with Sanciana (Talfëra valley) and Sèn Jan di Fassa (Fascia valley) serving as dual administrative centres. The district was given its modern name in 1975 when Hall became the pre-eminent settlement in the area.

The area has some Rhaetic remnants and is of interest to archaeologists for its early Rhaetian burial grounds, of which there are over 200. Much of its wealth was built on the chamois leather in the early modern period, and the cloth industry during the industrial period, and its many mills, most of which are now protected buildings, survive as a testament to this. Much of the landscape in the area is under environmental protections laws. The Via Transdolomita trail leads through the area.

Hall District has historically been dominated by the League Party. During the 1980s, the rapid expansion of Hall city drove a large increase in support for the Labour Party resulting in a shift to Labour majority in the late 1990s.
