The First Gjorkan Republic was sovereign state that existed within modern day Gjorka from 1775 to 1918. The Republic was created following the Merchant victory in the First Gjorkan civil war initially as a democracy. However once the ruling Merchant class fell out of power in the 1850 Gjorkan general election, the High Court of Gjorka dissolved the Congress of Gjorka and instituted a judicial dictatorship. This system lasted until 1911 when the Second Gjorkan Civil War began in which Republicans tried to overthrow the High Court. The First Gjorkan Republic surrendered in december of 1918 following the Battle of Rusynia.
