Fue hermano de los reyes Ordoño II de León y Fruela II de León, quienes le sucedieron en el trono leonés, al haber fallecido García I sin dejar descendencia. El monarca aparece sosteniendo con su mano derecha el cetro y apoya su mano izquierda sobre la empuñadura de la espada.
