Edward Unitas Flannagan (born September 30, 1959) is a Gjorkan politician and current Majority Leader of the National Assembly of Gjorka since 2021. He also previous served as the Secretary of Justice for President Roman Vanderburg from 2011 to 2015.
Born and raised in Éire, Flannagan initially worked as a teacher as a local high school for ten years, before entering politics. In 1991 he joined the newly rising Forward Gjorka party and became a local figure in Éire politics. However, in 1996 he was encouraged by party officials to run for a seat in the National Assembly from Gjorka City. Despite never having lived in Gjorka City, Flannagan managed to successfully win a seat in the 1996 election. He served as an Assembly member from the city from 1996 to 2011, when he was chosen by president-elect Roman Vanderburg to be his Secretary of Justice. Edward served as Secretary from 2011 until 2015 when he ultimately decided to resign to once again pursue his assembly seat. He was elected again in the 2016 election, and is still currently serving. Following Majority Leader Zachary Hill's decision to pursue the vice presidency in 2021, Flannagan was chosen by party leadership to become the party's leader for the 2021 Gjorkan National Assembly election. Despite failing to secure a majority of seats (and in fact losing seats), Flannagan was able to negotiate a majority coalition with the Green Party and was elected the next Majority Leader of the National Assembly on September 30, 2021.
