Avi Navon (1984 - 2054) was the third President of the Theocratic States of Icaris and the first Minister of Defense. He served under both Levi Shamir and Esra Eisenhardt as defense minister and was known for his war-hawkishness. He was a staunch Traditionalist. He was elected president in 2037 and re-elected in 2041. Navon died in 2054.

Presidency (2037-2045)

Avi Navon was a huge advocate for defense and defense spending. He was an isolationist and heavy nationalist. He believed in strict regulation of the energy sector to ensure Icarisian businesses weren't growing large enough to service foreign countries. He lobbied for the passage of laws to restrict businesses construction of pipelines. To much of the nation's surprise, he set the national energy production standards (oil/natural gas could only be 20% of energy production and usage, government incentives if met 15%) with the support of Prime Minister Xavier Nassau, who, prior to entering politics was the CEO of the largest oil and natural gas corporation in Icaris. He also advocated for stricter compellance laws for labor unions, believing the Icarisian way of life needed to be protected through labor safeguards. He was a highly social conservative and opposed government marriage and funding for abortions. He was strictly anti-firearm regulation. Parting with many Traditionalists, he supported the death penalty and the outlaw of certain drugs. He was a huge advocate for a strict immigration system and smaller quotas on allowed immigrants. Some cuts were made to public funding of the social safety net, but Navon held firm to the Shamir-Eisenhardt opt-in tax system and government-funded healthcare system. Navon was not too concerned about cuts to public spending.
