Alexander Enrique Ramírez y Umaña (June 1977 – 29 February 2020), also known as Maramírez, was a Creeperian gangster who was the leader of Mara Salvatrucha from 1999 until 2020. During his almost 21-year rule, he was considered to be the most powerful criminal in Creeperopolis and one of the most powerful in the world.

Early life

Alexander Enrique Ramírez y Umaña was born in June 1977 in Tuxtla Martínez, Zapatista, Creeperopolis, and was raised in a poor urban family. His father was Armando José Ramírez y Gómez and his mother was María Estefania Umaña y Cortéz. During his childhood, he was physically abused by his father, and through his father, he entered the drug trade at age 12. Despite being abused by his father, he had some respect for him, and when he was murdered on 28 February 1992 by the gang Sureños, he swore to get revenge. At age 15, Ramírez Umaña joined the gang Mara Salvatrucha, and as a part of his initiation, he murdered 4 members of Sureños on 18 April 1992. From 1992 to 1995, he helped the gang map routes to move drugs through Zapatista and into San Salvador and Adolfosburg, the two largest cities in Creeperopolis.

Leader of Mara Salvatrucha

Ramírez Umaña became a favorite of the gang's leader at the time, Salvador Berrocal Rouco, and became Berrocal Rouco's unofficial second-in-command and successor in 1998 when he was only 21. Berrocal Rouco was killed a year later in a shootout with the Creeperian Army on 15 July 1999, and Ramírez Umaña effectively became the leader of Mara Salvatrucha. His first action was to eliminate any possible rival to power and bribe he saw as essential to keep. The 1999 Mara Salvatrucha purges killed 323 potential rivals to his power, and bribed 34 more to be loyal to him personally.

With his rise to power, Ramírez Umaña became one of the most wanted men in Creeperopolis, simply for being the leader of the largest gang in the country. From 1999 to 2020, Ramírez Umaña was estimated to have been responsible for up to over 1,000,000 deaths, mostly as a result of the Mara War, where Mara Salvatrucha waged war against the Creeperian Armed Forces and the Creeperian government.

Capture and execution

On 3 February 2020, Ramírez Umaña was captured and arrested by the National Intelligence Directorate in Zapatista. He was sent to the Tuxtla Martínez–Panachor Maximum Security Facility, the most secure prison in Creeperopolis, where he was held as a prisoner-of-war and a member of Mara Salvatrucha. His prisoner identification number was TMP20200194.

On 29 February 2020, Ramírez Umaña was executed by a firing squad in San Salvador. The specific date of 29 February was chosen as to deny Mara Salvatrucha a yearly day of remembrance. He was succeeded by Román Saavedra Saelices as the leader of Mara Salvatrucha, however, he was killed by the Creeperian Imperial Police shortly afterwards on 20 March 2020, and was succeeded by Ismael Zambada García.
