The 2022 Ajaki general election were held in Ajakanistan from 12 January 2022 to 26 January 2022 to elect the 450 members of the House of Comrades and the 170 members of the States Congress. The Largest political party the Ajaki People's won a majority of the votes continuing Vladimir Kareivs office as Supreme Leader.


=Background

2021 Protests

On 26 July 2021 the Pro democracy activist Aleksi Norvay was poisened with a Novichok nerve agent, on a flight back from Reykanes. Norvay accused of being responsible for his poisoning. The aftermath of the poisoning were huge protests all across Ajakanistan, with the Goals being that political parties be legalized, and an end to police violence. The Protests is currently the largest protest in Ajakanistan ever, with over 1 million protesters all around Ajakanistan.

Ajaki People's Party

The APP launched its campaign on 19 december 2021 , and on the Zheleboksarsk convention elected Vladimir Kareiv to contuine his term in office as leader of the APP.

Christian Democratic Party

On 25 October 2021 the Christian democratic party held its party convention in Vladimirgrad and elected Aleksi Norvay as leader of the party, and elected Maria Yernov as Secretary General. The Christian Democratic party formed a coalition with the Libertarian party with the Social Democratic Party and the Pirate party anouncing support of the Coalition.

Controversy

The legitimacy of the 2022 Ajaki general election was brought up by several parties and social movements in Ajakanistan alleging that it was rigged in the favour of the Ajaki People's Party. Consequentially, the election marked the beginning of the 2022 Ajaki protests.
