The 1989 Bautista air disaster occurred on 17 December 1989 six miles southwest of the Creeperian city of Bautista when a Maroto Botín MB-10-30RE of the Creeperian Air Force crashed shortly after takeoff. The crash killed all 48 people on board, including several members of the Creeperian royal family.

Aircraft

The flight was operated by a Creeperian Air Force Maroto Botín MB-10-30RE with the registration of FAAC-4095. The aircraft was delivered to the Creeperian Air Force in 1984 as one of the first MB-10-30RE series to be manufactured. FAAC-4095 was one of a few MB-10s which at the time were specifically used by the air force as a transport aircraft for government officials, military commanders, and Creeperian royalty. As the aircraft was carrying various members of the Creeperian royal family (but not the emperor) at the time of the accident, the flight's callsign was FUERZA AÉREA 2.

FAAC-4095 was previously involved in an incident on 30 July 1986 when Major José Ramírez Quiñónez, the flight's first officer, attempted to assassinate air force Lieutenant Colonel Ramón Pellagoz Carpio by attempting to deliberately crash the aircraft over a personal grievance. The flight's captain and flight engineer managed to prevent Ramírez Quiñónez from crashing the aircraft and made an emergency landing at the José Fernández Sotomayor International Airport in San Salvador del Norte. All 34 occupants survived and Ramírez Quiñónez was subsequently executed by firing squad a few weeks after the incident.
